A structured, multilingual curriculum framework for Burmese migrant students in Thailand — with a standards alignment layer and AI tools designed to keep teachers and the official curriculum in sync.

The Architecture

Built to maintain parity between the teacher and the standards

The core of migrantliteracy.org is a persistent standards scaffolding layer — a structured web of links connecting every curriculum activity to the official Thai NFE and BECC frameworks that govern non-formal education. This is not a post-hoc labelling exercise; it is the structural foundation the platform is built on.

ATLAS, the AI curriculum assistant, operates inside this scaffolding. When it reads or edits an activity, it works within a context that includes the relevant standards, the classroom conditions stored in teaching context memory, and a full audit trail of every change made. This ensures that AI assistance enhances rather than undermines standards alignment.

The teacher support tool under development extends this logic to the classroom. Teachers will have access to an AI that understands their local context — class size, student demographics, available materials, language environment — and that gives advice which is both pedagogically sound and demonstrably connected to the standards their students are working toward.

Standards Alignment — NFE

  • Full NFE reference browser: 5 Strands → Courses → Topics → Learning Outcomes
  • 891 specific learning outcomes extracted from official NFE curriculum documents using AI parsing
  • ~1,252 outcome-level activity links — specific outcome linkage, not coarse strand-level
  • Activity detail pages link directly to the specific outcome on the NFE reference page
  • Each outcome has a direct anchor link and an activity count badge

ATLAS — AI Curriculum Editor

  • Conversational AI (Claude Sonnet) with full multi-turn history and streaming responses
  • 17 tools: read, write, and search activities; link/unlink BECC indicators, NFE standards, and NFE outcomes
  • Teaching context system: stores classroom conditions (class size, demographics, available materials) to inform AI responses
  • Per-message token usage with estimated cost display
  • Right-click conversation rename; conversation history persisted across sessions

Change Management

  • Every ATLAS-generated edit is logged with the original value, new value, AI reasoning, and confidence level
  • Change review UI with status filters: Needs Review, Pending, Flagged, Approved, Rolled Back
  • Approve, flag, or roll back individual changes from the review dashboard
  • Full audit trail of who changed what and why
